WILLIAMS Landing train station will open on April 28 with trains every 11 minutes on average during peak times.
Bus services will expand to Point Cook South and Saltwater Close with five new routes replacing the 413 and 416, and all bus routes will run until at least 9pm every night.
Two of the new routes, the 494 and 495, from the new station through Point Cook, will run until midnight on Friday and Saturday night.
The number of bus services in the area will more than triple from 697 to 2120.
The 413 and 416 which both go from Hoppers Crossing to Laverton have been axed.
Williams Landing is the newest station in Melbourne and has bus bays, two lifts, a ramp and is accessed from both sides of the Princes Freeway via a pedestrian bridge.
It will be a premium station and will be staffed while train services are running.
Transport Minister Terry Mulder said Protective Services Officers would also patrol the station.
“It’s a pretty good era for public transport,” he said.
PTV Chief Executive Ian Dobbs said there was room to increase frequency of train services on the Werribee line after the Regional Rail Link was completed, but at the moment there were bottlenecks between the city and Newport.
“Really, running V/Line trains through the middle of the metro service makes it very, very difficult,” he said.
