Werribee stab victim ‘chased down’, court hears

LATEST: A WERRIBEE man was chased hundreds of metres through the streets of Fitzroy before he was killed, a court has heard.

Shaun Wright, 21, died on Johnston Street on Sunday morning.

Fatah Issah, 25, of Preston, faced Melbourne Magistrates Court yesterday charged with Mr Wright’s murder.

Police asked for 12 weeks to prepare a brief for the case, saying the matter involved extensive CCTV footage of the incident and the chase that led to Mr Wright’s death.

Mr Issah did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody to reappear in court in July.

The court heard that three people had been charged with affray in relation to the death and would appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday.

They are a Sydenham man, 21, a North Melbourne woman, 18, and a Burnside woman, 20.
