Good Friday Appeal: Point Cook CFA firing up for good cause

MORE than 120 volunteers will help Point Cook CFA in its bid to break last year’s record fund-raising total of $21,300 for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

Helped by State Emergency Service, Rotary and other volunteers, fireys will start rattling tins on Thursday, March 28 at Sanctuary Lakes and Point Cook town centre, asking residents to open their wallets and hearts for the hospital. A doorknocking drive begins at 8.30am on March 29.

Point Cook CFA spokeswoman Brooke Simon said the brigade had received a groundswell of community support, with Carranballac College lending two buses and businesses donating vouchers and goods, including a hand-made wooden fire truck toy box, for an online auction.

Others would volunteer at a family fun day.
