THE countdown is on to the multicultural Weerama Festival to be held in Werribee on March 23-24.
Baden Powell College students Ethan, 11, Brendan, 14, Seini, 11, Ben, 11, Liam, 11, Jovik, 13, Kiara, 11, Caitlin, 11, Maddie, 14, and Jessica, 11 (pictured) have been chosen to lead the annual Riverwalk festival from 11am.
Carrying flags spelling ‘Weerama’, the youngsters will be followed by community groups and schools.
Caitlin said she had never been to the festival and was “doubly excited” because she would lead the parade.
Other Weerama activities will include a multicultural fiesta, youth talent competition, car show, scavenger hunt and pool party.
Festival director Warrick Lynch said other highlights would include performances from musicians including Daryl Braithwaite throughout the weekend.
