Point Cook bus breaks isolation barrier

POINT Cook residents aged over 65 or who have a disability have a new way to get around town.

A community bus – supported by Point Cook Community Branch of Bendigo Bank, Wyndham Council, the state government and Jamieson Way Community Centre – offers an alternative for residents who may be isolated or unable to access private or public transport.

The 12-seater mini bus is operated by LINK Community Transport and driven by volunteers. Residents must register for the service and can book the bus the day before for a gold coin donation.

The service will be trialled this year and if successful will be funded by the bank for a further two years.

Registrations: 8353 4006.
