Re: Smoking ban around children’s facilities (Weekly online, February 7):

Excellent news. Smoking should be banned in all public places. It’s time that selfish smokers were told that the 80 per cent of the population who are smart enough not to smoke shouldn’t have to inhale cigarette smoke as they go about their business. Smoke from tobacco kills people. If smokers don’t care about their own health, that’s too bad. But they have no right to destroy the health of everyone else.

Re: Truganina truck hub just one step, residents say (Weekly, February 6):

Getting Australian Trucks up to EU emission standards and antique trucks off the road would go a long way towards solving the pollution problem. On a slightly different note regarding trucks, travelling single file in lane on one multi-lane freeways as in the EU would also help. Get the cowboys off the road. A more steady flow of traffic helps reduce pollution and accidents.

Re: Methadone GPs fall short in Wyndham (Weekly, February 6):

Methadone deaths far outnumber heroin deaths per year. Probably the reason for the reluctance of most GPs to prescribe methadone as a treatment for heroin addiction.

I am in agreement with the Mental Health Minister Mary Wooldridge towards aiming to weaning the addicts off high doses of methadone.

Re: Lengthy wait on Sneydes Road full interchange (Weekly, February 6):

They really don’t give two hoots these jokers. Probably couldn’t get to Point Cook without their chauffeur-driven limos.

You must be kidding, Tim. [People like you] would battle to understand how much work has gone into fixing Wyndham’s problems and setting the area up for the future. Get a clue.
