Kinder surprise as every child accepted

WYNDHAM Council has for the first time in several years been able to offer kindergarten places to every child who applied.

Places have been offered to 2274 children this year, including Brodie, 4, (pictured), with 90 per cent receiving a spot at their preferred kindergarten.

As reported by the Weekly, the council has struggled to find enough kinder places for the city’s four-year-olds, resulting in long waiting lists in 2011 and 2012.

Deputy mayor Marie Brittan said the opening of three-room kindergartens in Tarneit and Point Cook and the addition of a new room at Featherbrook had helped council meet demand.
