CHILDREN across Wyndham are making their way back to school with plenty of summer holiday stories to share with friends.

Pupils at Tarneit P-9 College were among the first back into the classroom, with grades 1-6 returning to school last Wednesday.

Preps start tomorrow after spending last week taking part in assessments.

Principal Peter Devereux said the first week was an exciting time for the 320 pupils of the school, which opened this year. “[The first day] has gone remarkably well. It was tear-free and the feel around the school is very friendly.”

Mr Devereux said construction of the school was almost complete, with a gym, canteen and music and drama building to be finished in the next two weeks. Werribee’s Cambridge Primary School welcomed 125 preps on Thursday.

Teacher Rachael Colwell said everyone had settled in well after taking part in four transition sessions last year.

Galvin Park Secondary started the school year with a new look and name. The school is now known as Wyndham Central Secondary College.

Principal Julie Myers said the changes included a new uniform and rebuilding or modernising of buildings.
