WYNDHAM residents will be spoilt for choice on Australia Day with celebrations planned across the city.
Flags will be flying and sausages sizzling at events in Manor Lakes, Tarneit and Werribee on Saturday as Wyndham shows off its national pride.
At Manor Lakes, the residents association will host its first public event for the year at Hindmarsh Reserve from 2pm.
The newly established Manor Lakes Football Club will run a clinic and there will be performances by a balloon artist and clown to keep children entertained.
All things Australian will also be celebrated at Tarneit Community Learning Centre which will hold a flag raising ceremony, followed by live music and dance performances. There will also be pony rides, an animal farm and cooking demonstrations from 11am.
The city’s official celebration is at Victoria University’s athletics track in Hoppers Lane from 6pm.
The council-run event will include live music and children’s entertainment, fireworks and a sausage sizzle.
Mayor Heather Marcus said Australia Day was a chance for residents to spend time with family and friends.
“There’s no better way to spend a summer’s day than having a picnic, enjoying some music and games and watching the fireworks.”
