Colourful contribution at Werribee sports centre

BASKETBALL courts at Werribee Sports and Fitness Centre have received a revamp for the first time in 15 years.

Members of the Werribee Basketball Association’s sales and marketing committee spruced up the centre last week with paint donated by Bunnings Werribee, and volunteers included Callum, 6 (pictured).

Committee member Melissa Orr said the walls, previously “grey and lifeless” were painted red, yellow and blue to reflect the colours worn by the Werribee Devils representative basketball teams which use the centre.

The stadium is visited by more than 25,000 people each year and is being redeveloped by Wyndham Council. Plans include 12 basketball courts, a cafe, creche, gym and external netball courts. Work will be carried out in two stages to allow the centre to remain open.
