RECORD numbers of Wyndham residents, including Werribee’s Terry Murray (pictured), are using the city’s hard and green waste collection service, reducing the amount of rubbish being dumped at parks and reserves.
Last year, 14,200 bookings were made for the service, up from 12,475 in 2011. Since the new hard and green waste collection service began in November 2009 there have been 38,494 bookings.
The service, along with the council’s ‘Dumping is Damaging’ campaign, has resulted in a 90 per cent reduction in illegal dumping.
