Re: Zoo ‘pulls’ order over ‘cruelty’

Re: Zoo ‘pulls’ order over ‘cruelty’ at Laverton knackery (Weekly, December 19):

I watched the footage and was horrified. It’s disgusting. I have had horses for most of my adult life and have had horses put to sleep through illness and welfare — it wasn’t done like that.

Watching this video has horrified me and made me mad. How can they talk about bullets “cost a lot of money”? I have an ex-racehorse that I love dearly and I can’t see how so many end up like this I would never send my horse to a place like this. I hope these men suffer like they have made many horses suffer. Tamara Meek (via web)

Re: ‘Festive spirit’ keeping plaza thieves at bay (Weekly, December 19):

What happened to the so-called intelligence-based policing talked about not so long ago? Because putting people in the ground for theft is the right thing to do? Bob (via web)

It is unreasonable for police to be patrolling shopping centres to prevent crime. The sheer number of man hours dedicated to this operation is an insult to the Wyndham community, when we see with our own eyes the organised criminals treating the west as their playground. Re: ‘Cap rates for urban growth boundary’ (Weekly, December 12):

We pay rates according to the value of our properties. The value of the 300 properties in Tarneit and Mount Cottrell has increased because of changes in the urban boundary. When they do sell, it will be like winning Tattslotto. They should be rated like any other property in Wyndham — according to their value. Richard Tham, Werribee
