Tradies targeted

Fathoming bore water
Wyndham residents are being warned it is illegal to plumb bore water into a mains supply without approval from Southern Rural Water. Groundwater and rivers general manager Craig Parker said the number of homes accessing both bore and town water had increased in recent years. He said there had been instances where residents had plumbed a bore water supply into the town supply without knowing they needed permission from their urban water supplier. “Bore water is not treated and is not suitable for human consumption. It can be used for watering stock and house gardens, and for domestic purposes not linked with human consumption. We urge anyone who is thinking about modifying their mains supply to incorporate bore water — or any other source of water — to contact their town water supplier.” More details: 1300 139 510.
Chips down for pets
Pet owners are being urged to ensure their cats and dogs are microchipped before the holiday season. Wyndham pound is often inundated with lost animals over Christmas who have run away or have been scared by fireworks. Cr Bob Fairclough said having a pet microchipped could save owners a lot of stress. “By keeping your pet safe and secure, ensuring they are microchipped and registered, and being aware of any scheduled fireworks in your neighbourhood, you could save yourself heartache.” More details: 9742 0777.
