Mum, son escape Seabrook house fire

A MOTHER and her son escaped a house fire in Seabrook that caused $50,000 damage on Thursday night.

Point Cook firefighters responded to the fire in Kim Court after reports the house was full of smoke and a bedroom was on fire.

About 25 firefighters battled for 20 minutes to bring the blaze under control.

The fire was sparked by an electrical fault in a fan controller. It burnt out a bedroom and destroyed a section of the roof, while the rest of the house was damaged by heat and smoke.

The mother and her son, believed to be aged 12-14, were treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation.
