Tradies tools a target for thieves
Thieves have targeted tradesmen’s vans and trailers in a string of thefts from vehicles in Wyndham. Power tools were stolen and a rear window smashed in four thefts across Hoppers Crossing and Tarneit between November 24-26. Police are appealing for information.
Call to ‘help paint the town red’
Wyndham Council is looking for artists to help spread the festive cheer in Watton Street. Artists are being encouraged to create red artworks for display as part of the council’s ‘Wrap the Town Red’ project. “From yarn bombing trees to removable sculptures, there will be numerous red art works in the Werribee City Centre creating a wonderful atmosphere and showing off works by some of our most talented artists,” mayor Heather Marcus said. Info sought on string of burglaries
Police are investigating a string of residential burglaries in Hoppers Crossing between November 22-23. Thieves targeted four houses near Werribee Plaza. Two were in Johnson Avenue, one in Heaths Road and another in McKenzie Street. Two pet bearded dragons, jewellery, luggage, dog food and cash were taken. A totem tennis pole was used to smash the rear window to break into one of the houses. An offender was confronted by a resident at one of the Johnson Avenue houses. He is described as bald, Caucasian, in his 40s with deep-set blue-grey eyes. He is about 165 centimetres and was wearing a white sports jacket and dark pants.
Forum to focus on disability needs
Disability service providers are being urged to attend a forum on Friday as part of International Day of People with Disability. The forum will discuss working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities and understanding cultural differences. It’s at the civic centre from 10.30am. Blood donors needed to lift stocks
Werribee’s blood donor centre needs more than 600 donors to give blood this holiday period to secure blood stocks for cancer patients. The Australian Red Cross Blood Service is concerned most people in Melbourne will take a five-day weekend this Christmas, leading to a major drop in blood stocks.
