Foam quells Laverton North fire

FIRE crews rushed to Laverton North’s industrial precinct on Thursday to battle a blaze at an electrical substation.

Firefighters were forced to cut several chained gates to gain access to the fire. About 1000 litres of oil used in a cooling transformer became extremely hot and foam was used to cool the oil and extinguish the blaze.
