TARNEIT’S Jamie Joseph is determined to put his fitness to the ultimate test. On Sunday, the keen athlete will tackle more than 1600 stairs as he races his way to the top of Melbourne’s Eureka Tower as part of the Eureka Climb.
Joseph (pictured) will compete in the elite athletes section of the fund-raising event, which is only open to 20 male and 20 female athletes.
He took part in the climb last year, racing up the 88 floors in 15 minutes to finish in 20th place. The winner completed the race in a little more than eight minutes.
“I have been training in the park for a while now and I am ready for the test. I’m hoping I can finish faster than last year,” he said.
Joseph said he was attracted to the race because it allowed him to “do his bit for a good cause”. Money raised through sponsorship will be donated to charities Whitelion and Interplast that help young people rebuild their lives.
