A whirlwind few weeks for Flynn Young has continued with the Werribee premiership player to make his AFL debut on Thursday night against Port Adelaide.
Carlton confirmed on Wednesday that Young would be one of two players making his debut against the Power.
Young was picked up by Carlton in the mid-season draft only a few weeks ago, marking a meteoric rise to the top level.
His debut comes after a strong performance for the Carlton reserves in their last match, his third at the club.
Young had 19 disposals and two goals in what has been described by Carlton as his best performance to date.
Speaking in a video posted on Carlton’s social media back when he was drafted, Young said he was excited to join the club.
“Looking forward to making the trip up to Carlton, some great memories at Ikon Park and can’t wait to create many more and just get stuck into it with the boys and meet all the staff and players.”
Young will wear number 45 when he runs out onto Adelaide Oval.
He will be one of two debutants for the Blues on Thursday night, with Billy Wilson also being elevated to senior level as the Blues look to bounce back after a tough loss last weekend to North Melbourne.
Young will be the fourth Werribee player to make their AFL debut this season, with Jack Henderson, Riley Bice and Aidan Johnson all getting their chance to debut this season.
