Several Wyndham players shone at the Western Region Football League (WRFL)’s Senior Men’s awards night last week.
The awards celebrating “the best of the west” were announced on Thursday, October 14.
John Tomelty from the Wyndham Suns took out the division three category, receiving the Ron & Thelma Angwin Medal with 11 votes.
Hoppers Crossing player Ryan Kitchen won the division one reserves award on 10 votes.
The division two reserves award went to Tristan Pearce from Point Cook Centrals, who garnered 11 votes.
Albanvale’s Dane Thomas took out the division three reserves award with 12 points, followed by Matthew Holmes from the Wyndham Suns and Nick Williams of Tarneit with nine points each.
Brock Spiteri from Werribee Districts received an impressive 20 votes to take home the under-18 boys’ division one category.
The under-18 boys’ division two gong went to Kai Logan of Point Cook with 13 votes.
Werribee Districts’ president Bart Shaw received the Lindsay Patching Memorial Club Official of the Year award.
On the club’s Facebook, a post congratulating Shaw went up after the awards were announced.
The post described Shaw as “a terrific leader and a tirelessly hard worker”.
The post went on to say: “A massive congratulations as well to one of our star Under 18s Brock Spiteri who won Under 18 Division 1 Best & Fairest.
“An incredible achievement and thoroughly deserved for a current and future star of the Club!”
In addition, the post acknowledged Luke Di Mauro from the club’s under-18 division one side, who topped the division’s goal kicking tally with 28 goals across 11 games for the season.
