Wins for Hoppers Crossing, Point Cook, West Point

Hoppers Crossing returned to the winners list in the FV state league 2 north-west competition on Saturday.

After a 3-2 loss to one of the top sides in Westgate the week before, Hoppers bounced back against Lalor United.

John Paul Gildo opened the scoring just before half time for Hoppers Crossing. It would be the only goal of the game, with Hoppers Crossing winning 1-0.

Hoppers Crossing sits fifth after three rounds. This week Hoppers Crossing faces Moreland United.

In state league 3 north-west, Point Cook had a big win against Moonee Ponds United.

Scores were locked at 1-1 at half time, before Point Cook found another level in the second half.

Ethan O’Connell scored a hat trick in the second half to seal the 4-1 win.

Point Cook is one of three teams sitting undefeated after three rounds. Point Cook has two wins and a draw so far and sits behind Westvale which has three wins.

Point Cook is on the road this week, facing the Heidelberg Eagles.

West Point was on the winners list in state league 5 west, beating Ballarat, 2-0.

Blake D’Antino opened up the scoring in the 14th minute, with Frank Garrasi scoring for a second success week, in the 54th minute from a penalty.

The win was West Point’s second for the season, with the side now sitting fourth.

Wyndham lost 2-0 to Deakin University in their state league 5 west match.

The Ducks scored through James Robinson twice in the first 21 minutes, to set up the win.

Wyndham remains without a win.

In other soccer results, Western United had a 2-2 draw with the Central Coast Mariners on Saturday afternoon.

Jason Cummings scored first for the Mariners before an own goal levelled the scores.

The score line became 2-2 when Aleksandar Prijovic and Cummings scored in consecutive minutes for their sides.

United keeper Jamie Young saved a penalty in the dying minutes to ensure his team came away with at least one point.
