Werribee City is showing signs of improvement in the Football Federation Victoria NPL2 west under new coach Sergio Sabbadini but still has a way to go before it can sing its song after a victory.

The winless Bees picked up their third point in 12 games in an entertaining 2-2 draw with fellow strugglers Sunshine George Cross at Galvin Park on Saturday.

The Bees twice went ahead through Daniel Piovesan and Rob Naumovski, but could not hold on.

Will round 13 be lucky for the Bees?

They have a golden opportunity to break the drought when they play Bendigo City at home on Saturday evening.

City is one spot above the Bees with a win, but has a far inferior goal difference.

The Bees coaching re-structure was completed during the week with John Waddell appointed technical director.

Waddell had a long playing career in the NSL and VPL before turning his attention to coaching. He was a technical director at his previous club, the Bulleen Lions.

It was a costly loss for the Reds, who dropped from second to fourth in one fell swoop.
