Werribee Tigers home opener worth the wait

Werribee Tigers fans will have to play something of a waiting game to see their side on home soil next season.

When the Tigers finally arrive, it will be well worth the wait, as the VFL fixture release revealed last week.

The Tigers first game at Watton Street will be a Saturday night showdown in round five with none other than defending premier and western suburbs rival Williamstown.

But before the Tigers defend their home turf, they will travel to Essendon in the season opener, followed by trips to Frankston and Footscray with a bye wedged between.

In one of the highlights of the fixture for the Tigers, they will host a Saturday afternoon blockbuster with Collingwood in round nine, with no other VFL matches being played that day.

There is also good news on the television front with three Tiger matches being televised on free-to-air by Channel Seven in the first 15 rounds.

The state game between the VFL and the SANFL will take place on May 29.
