Werribee came from behind to beat Williamstown by 15 points in its second Victorian Football League practice match in Geelong on Saturday.

Williamstown charged to a 37-point quarter-time lead after six unanswered goals. Werribee answered with six straight goals of its own through the second and third quarters to set up a grandstand finish.

Werribee overcame a 10-point three quarter-time deficit to kick away with a four goals to nil last quarter.

Jade Cleeland and Josh Corbett led the way for Werribee with three goals apiece.

Werribee coach John Lamont was pleased with his team’s effort after a slow start.

“We need to be better organised and take more responsibility for winning the footy and then we just need to defend better,” he said.
