Werribee City out of the Australia Cup

Werribee City is out of the Australia Cup after a 4-1 loss to Bentleigh Greens on Wednesday night.

In their first match of the competition, with National Premier League sides entering the competition, the Bees were never going to be in for an easy game against the Greens, who have gone deep into the national stage of the competition on several occasions.

The Greens opened the scoring in the 23rd minute through Jordie Van Der Laan and doubled the lead just before half time through Lucas Derrick.

Goals to Thomas Strickland and Mitchell Hore scored to increase the margin to 4-0.

Adam Oddo got a consultation goal in the 82nd minute.

Among the winners so far are Upfield, Whittlesea Ranges, St Albans Saints and Melbourne Knights are among the other winners.

The rest of the round four matches will be played next week.

FV state league 5 west side West Point will be hoping to continue its surprise cup run with victory against Whitehorse United.
