GDFL netball

Werribee Centrals goal shooter Ellie Tubbs has produced a Geelong District netball A-grade game for the ages. Tubbs fired in a remarkable 99 goals for Centrals in Saturday’s 111-9 massacre of Corio at Galvin Park. Centrals and Bannockburn are the only two unbeaten teams after six rounds. Centrals will be eager to continue their stellar form away to Geelong West on Saturday.

It was past players’ day for Werribee Centrals on Saturday and many of the former champions returned to look over the future of the club, on and off the ground. It was also Pink Day at Galvin Park, with a sea of pink in the rooms for an afternoon tea that raised funds for the Breast Cancer Network. The day was capped off with a thrilling two-point win for Centurions over Corio in the Geelong District Football League. The Centurions, who led by 28 at three- quarter time, held off the fast-finishing Corio thanks largely to the influence of Dion Lawson (three goals), Jarryd Ramsay and Tito Nyawela.

VAFA

Westbourne Grammarians had an all-the-way 33-point win over North Brunswick in the Victorian Amateur Football Association’s division 4 on Saturday. The Warriors continued to toss contenders to the side as they moved to 5-0 and two wins clear at the top of the table. Tim Rogers was named best for the Warriors, while Justin Johns snagged five goals. Point Cook had the bye.
