Werribee has added some more experience to its Victorian Football League list, signing Bailey Henderson and Jack Boyd
Henderson has spent the last four years as part of Richmond’s VFL team and was part of the club’s leadership group this year.
The 23-year-old is expected to bring some speed to the Werribee side and is coming off his best season with a career-high 14 games.
Henderson, who is from Castlemaine, previously played with Werribee co-captain Don Brew in the Northern Territory in 2020.
Werribee football manager Mark Micallef said Henderson will add some flexibility to the side.
“Bailey’s an exciting player who can play in a number of positions,” he said.
“He brings good speed on the outside and also displayed strong ball winning ability and decision making in his time with Richmond.
“Bailey also fits well with our culture and has already impressed with his leadership, so he’s a quality addition to our club.”
Boyd arrives at Avalon Airport Oval after playing every game for the Northern Bullants over the past two seasons.
Having split his time between attack and the ruck a year ago the 196cm Northern Knights product spent more time as a permanent forward in 2022.
He booted 24 goals this season including a career-best four majors against Carlton in round 10.
Micallef said Boyd’s signing was an exciting coup for the club.
“Jack’s a good athlete with a strong set of hands,” he said.
“We see him mainly as a key forward but he’s also capable of playing in the ruck where he can provide a strong presence around the ball.
“As a forward we think he can establish a really good partnership with Hudson Garoni but we’re also excited by the look of our forward line with the other options we have up there.”
