Truganina Hornets score a perfect start

Truganina Hornets have raced to the top of the ladder in Football Federation Victoria men’s state league 4 west soccer.

The Hornets are a perfect three wins from three games and are displaying firepower in abundance.

Sergio Lunedei’s team put on an attacking show on Saturday evening in a 4-1 mauling of North Melbourne Athletic at Arndell Park Reserve.

Giorgio Torelli was superb for Truganina with a double. He is averaging a goal a game over the first three.

In state league 1, Hoppers Crossing was no match for Geelong.

The Reds sunk to a 3-0 defeat on home soil at Grange Reserve on Saturday.

In state league 3 north-west, Point Cook had a 1-1 draw with Sunbury United away at Langama Park.

Nikola Duvnjak scored his first goal of the season for Point Cook.

In NPL 2 west, Werribee City returned home from Springvale White Eagles with a 2-0 loss.

In women’s state league 2, Hoppers Crossing romped to a 7-1 season-opening win over Melbourne University at Princes Park Oval.

Julia Budiongo-Batota was scintillating for the Reds with four goals, while goals to Kelly Black, Regina Vicedor and Mya Moran completed the rout.

In women’s state league 2, Point Cook began the season with a 2-0 loss to Hume City at Saltwater Reserve.
