Top clubs test Point Cook

Point Cook has been left with little doubt what it will take to break into the top two in the Football Federation Victoria women’s state league 4 west.

The third-placed Jets have squared off with ladder leaders Avondale and Kyneton District, losing both times.

They were super competitive against Avondale in round one, losing 2-0.

That Avondale side has gone on to win its opening six games with an astronomical goal difference of +38.

On Saturday, Point Cook played second-placed Kyneton District and lost 3-0.

In the same division, West Point went down 5-1 to Brunswick Zebras.

In women’s state league 1, Hoppers Crossing endured a nightmare in a 13-1 loss to Old Xavarians.

In men’s state leagues, Hoppers Crossing has moved into the top five in state league 2 after a 1-0 win against Geelong Rangers at Grange Reserve.

Point Cook had a disastrous 7-1 loss to FC Strathmore in state league 2.

In state league 4, Truganina Hornets sunk to a 2-0 loss to Westside Strikers.

Meanwhile, Werribee City has ceded ground at the top of the National Premier League 2 west ladder.

The Bees have fallen two points in arrears of ladder leader St Albans Saints after a 1-1 draw with Northcote City at John Cain Memorial Park on Saturday.
