Wyndham Suns have claimed a thrilling four-point victory in their first senior final in Western Region Football League division 3.

The Suns trailed the Sanctuary Lakes Sharks at every change but took the lead when it mattered – with only seconds left on the clock.

Hayden Iannacone booted three goals for the Suns in a best-on-ground display.

Iannacone was one of the Suns key pillars in a tough second half of the season when injury ravaged the first-year club.

The Suns strengthened their spine for the Sharks match with the inclusion of key forwards Dean Cachia and Brendan Tyquin. Cachia booted two crucial goals.

Adrian Pappas, Leon Day, Cody Harkin and Jaiden Dineen were among the Suns’ better players.

It was a heartbreaking finish for the Sharks, who held a comfortable 16-point lead at three-quarter-time.

The Suns will return to Wootten Road Reserve on Sunday to face minor premiers Albanvale Cobras for the right to move into the grand final.

On a weekend of thrillers in division 3, Albanvale went down to Parkside by four points in a weird game.

The Cobras were goal-less at three-quarter-time but kicked the final six goals in a nail-biting finish.

Parkside rode its luck to claim the first spot in the grand final.
