Sanctuary Lakes golf prodigy Krishan Dobson off to Las Vegas

This nine-year-old Sanctuary Lakes golf prodigy is taking his swing all the way to the US.

After winning the Hartley Mitchell Cup at the 2016 Yarra Yarra Junior Open earlier this year, Krishan Dobson will head to Las Vegas next month to compete in the World Stars of Junior Golf tournament.

Krishan competed against kids much older than him in the under-16s event to take out the title.

“I hope I do very well. I just want to have fun,” he said of his US adventure. “I just want to do the best I can.”

Krishan first picked up a golf club at age three and by six he was competing in tournaments.

The left-handed golfer has won more than 20 trophies and medals in the past three years and is a member at both the Sanctuary Lakes and Yarra Yarra golf clubs.

He hopes to one day follow in the footsteps of his favourite golfer Ricky Fowler and turn pro.

“[Fowler] turned pro very quickly, he’s a very young golfer, and I want to try and do that,” Krishan said.

“I want to try and be better than him; I want to be as good as I can be.”
