Rest of VFL, VFLW fixtures come out

The dates and times for the Victorian Football League men’s and women’s remaining fixtures have been confirmed.

The fixture announcements complete the home and away scheduling following the original release of fixtures up to round 13 in the VFL and round nine in the VFLW.

Some highlights of the fixture include 15 VFL-VFLW double headers and 12 matches featuring VFL-standalone clubs playing against each other.

The Western Bulldogs will take on North Melbourne-Werribee under lights at Whitten Oval in a VFLW grand final rematch on Friday, July 4. The match will begin at 7.35pm following the VFL round 15 matchup of Footscray and North Melbourne.

The second VFL grand final rematch is another upcoming fixture with Werribee taking on Southport at Avalon Airport Oval on Saturday, August 9 during round 20. The two sides played each other back in round one with Southport emerging victorious by 18 points.

Williamstown will face Werribee in their next match on Saturday, June 21 at DSV Stadium in a match that could shape how the finals series looks. Werribee won the reverse fixture by 20 points back in round five and Williamstown will be sure to try to return the favour on their home ground.

The Seagulls also have an upcoming fixture against fierce rivals Port Melbourne on Saturday, July 5 at ETU Stadium.

The Williamstown and Port Melbourne VFLW teams are also set to play beforehand. With the reverse fixture back in round four being a close encounter in which Port Melbourne came out on top by 10 points.

Footscray have a huge matchup against current top of the ladder team Box Hill in the VFL on Saturday, August 9 at Box Hill City Oval.

The match could have serious implications on Footscray’s top four chances as it comes in their penultimate game of the season.
