Wyndham’s state championship men’s and women’s teams both put on a show on Saturday night in the Big V competition.
After the Queen’s birthday weekend bye, the two teams were back at home in front of their crowd at Eagle Stadium.
The women’s team put its foot down against the Pakenham Warriors in the first of the two senior games.
Wyndham jumped out of the blocks with a 29-12 first quarter before a more even middle two quarters, with Wyndham slightly extending its lead.
While in control of the game, Wyndham still had another level to go, with a 23-7 last quarter sealing a 103-63 win.
Four players scored double figures led by Lauren Jones with 27, as every player hit the scoreboard.
The win cements Wyndham’s spot on top of the ladder.
They have a double header in round 13, playing the Sunbury Jets and the Southern Peninsula Sharks.
Wyndham’s men’s side also had a massive win at Eagle Stadium, beating the Blackburn Vikings.
Like the women’s side, the men’s side was fast out of the blocks and led by 16 points at quarter time.
They were able to keep the moment and the lead increased each quarter. Wyndham had its highest scoring quarter of the game in the last, to run away with a 103-67 win.
Every player got at least five minutes court time, with all but one player scoring.
Six players, including three off the bench, hit double figures.
Kavione Green top scored with 18 points.
The men’s side remains in second spot, having lost two games for the season.
The side faces the Chelsea Gulls this coming Saturday.
