Manor Lakes storm to a massive first up win

Manor Lakes unveiled its 2016 VWFL premiership flag and then sent a warning to the rest of the Western Region and Essendon District Women’s Football League with a flawless first-up performance in the newly-formed competition.

The Storm walloped the VU Western Spurs at Howqua Reserve on Saturday night, scoring 119 points from 34 scoring shots and keeping the visitors scoreless.

Kellee McIntosh was on target for the Storm with five goals, while captain Cara Dunshea capped a stellar performance with four and Rachel Doody claimed best-afield honours.

The Storm has a bye scheduled for round two.

In the local derby, Glen Orden claimed a 45-point win over Tarneit at Wootten Road Reserve.

Zoe Page-Ponga was named best for the victorious Hawks, while Mereana Kelly booted three goals.

Glen Orden will travel to Sunbury on Sunday, while Tarneit will host Craigieburn.
