Hoppers triumph over Werribee on Anzac Day

The neighbourhood clash between Hoppers Crossing and Werribee District proved to be as close as their geography, with the margin remaining within 14-points at all four breaks throughout the Western Region Football League division one Anzac Day match.

Despite the closeness of the game, home side Hoppers Crossing were able to hold their lead at all four breaks, by a point at quarter-time followed by 14-points, five-points and in the end, five-points, to record victory.

Braden Ferrari was influential up forward with three goals along with Mitchell Holt and Ashlin Brown with two goals each.

Both sides kicked 11 goals with Hoppers recording 13 behinds to Districts’ eight, highlighting more forward play influence compared to Werribee.

For the Districts Joshua Mould, Lachlan Rainbow and Christopher Molivas kicked two goals each.

The win marks Hoppers third for the season to go 3-1, while Werribee sit with a 2-1 win-loss record.
