Hoppers Crossing hands out a football lesson

Steven Kretiuk addresses his players.

Hoppers Crossing is starting to make its move in the Western Region Football League division 1.

The Warriors secured a second consecutive win in a 64-point thrashing of the wildly inconsistent Albion at Hogans Road Reserve on Saturday.

Mitch Palma continued his recent strong form with a best-on-ground display for the Warriors, while Ben Jago, Liam Nash and Ryan Kitchen had an impact.

Nash was one of five multiple goalkickers for the Warriors with two, along with three to Jordan Mead and two each to Braden Ferrari, Jordan Staley and Wayde Skipper.

Hoppers Crossing probably should have won the game by more, having turned just 14 of 31 scoring shots into goals.

The Warriors defence was rock solid, holding Albion to just 12 scoring shots for the game.

Next up for the Warriors is the local derby against Wyndhamvale on June 17.

Wyndhamvale is stewing after collapsing in a last quarter heap against St Albans at Kings Park Reserve on Saturday.

The Falcons led by a massive 35 points at three-quarter time, but conceded eight goals to one in the final 30 minutes to lose by eight.

A gut-wrenching loss was not the way Falcons midfielder Tyler Tessari wanted to remember his 250th game, but he had a strong individual performance with three goals in a best-on-team display.

Werribee Districts suffered another heavy defeat, going down by 88 points to Spotswood on home soil at Soldiers Reserve.

The Tigers will welcome the Queen’s birthday break, having lost three consecutive games to tumble out of the top five.

In division 2, a poor start cost Manor Lakes in a 28-point loss to premiership contenders Yarraville-Seddon at the Yarraville Oval.

The Storm went goalless in the first quarter, but it was even from quarters two to four with both sides kicking eight goals apiece.

Brandon Turner, Ethan Henley and Josh Doyle were named best for the Storm.

In division 3, Sanctuary Lakes played out a draw with North Sunshine at Featherbrook Reserve, but it must have felt like a loss.

The Sharks led by 23 points at three-quarter time, but their failure to score in the last saw the Roadrunners share the points.

Luke Henderson bagged four goals for the Sharks in a low scoring encounter.

Tarneit has slid a game and a half behind the top two after a 34-point loss to Sunshine Heights away at Ainsworth Reserve.
