Half a game does not suffice for Wyndhamvale

Wyndhamvale’s resistance was broken in the second half of a 40-point loss to Albion in the Western Region Football League division 1 at Wyndham Vale South Reserve on Saturday.

Up to half-time, the Falcons put up a good fight, but a poor third quarter was their undoing. The final score was 11.8 (74) – 17.12 (114).

It leaves the Falcons in relegation danger, second last with just one win from six rounds.

A bright spot for Wyndhamvale was the performance of Keidan Holt-Tubbs who kicked four goals, equalled only by Albion match-winner Sean Moyle.

Others to impress for the Falcons were Kier Bol, Liam Jones and Liam Scarborough.

Wyndhamvale, winless in the past four games, has two games on the road, starting with a trip to Altona on Saturday.

Hoppers Crossing was more competitive against Deer Park in the grand final re-match than it was last September, but it still succumbed by 31 points at Hogans Road Reserve.

The Warriors had to wait until the second quarter to post their first major after conceding four-goals-to-zip in the opening term, but they worked hard to take a shock three-point lead into three-quarter time.

Deer Park called on all of its experience to steady in the final term to run out winners with 10.16 (76) – 15.17 (107)

Liam Nash, Wayde Skipper and Ashlin Brown were named best for Hoppers Crossing, while Jordan Mead and Jordan Staley booted two goals apiece.

The Warriors are 3-3 and in danger of slipping to a losing record with a trip to undefeated ladder leader Spotswood on Saturday.

Werribee Districts were blown away after half-time by the ever-improving Sunshine Kangaroos, going down by 63 points at Soldiers Reserve with a final score of 6.10 (46) – 16.13 (109).

The Tigers conceded 13 of the 15 second half goals.

In division 2, Manor Lakes celebrated a 60-point win over West Footscray at Howqua Reserve by moving up to third on the ladder.

Rowan Davis was named best-on-ground for the Storm, while James Farrugia and Brandon Turner slotted three goals apiece.

In division 3, Wyndham Suns have taken out the local derby over Tarneit Titans by 27 points at Goddard Street Reserve.

Daniel Hovey was outstanding for the Suns with five goals, taking his tally to 21 goals in six matches. Kyle Smillie, Nick Conte, Josh Stephens and Chris DeBono also impressed.

The victory has seen the Suns leap-frog rivals Tarneit into second position on the ladder ahead of a trip to Sanctuary Lakes. Tarneit will look to get back on track when it hosts North Sunshine at Wootten Road Reserve.
