Werribee has added another player with Victorian Football League experience while locking in a number of young guns for this season.
In the lead up to the Christmas break, the Tigers announced that Will Elliott had joined the club for this season.
The 21-year-old becomes the second player this off-season to arrive from the Preston Bullants, following a strong first two seasons in the VFL.
Standing at 202 centimetres, Elliott shapes as an exciting prospect, arriving at Melbourne Avalon Airport Oval with 27 VFL goals at more than a goal a game.
Elliott joined the Northern Bullants ahead of the 2024 season after captaining the Oakleigh Chargers in the Coates League, while also spending his final talent league season listed with the Box Hill Hawks.
Werribee football manager Kyle Hartigan said from the outside, they had identified Elliott as one of the most exciting prospects in the VFL.
“With Hudson Garoni retiring at the end of the year, we see Will as a great fit for that role,” he said.
“At just 21 years of age, we’re looking forward to seeing how far he can take his football in 2026.”
Meanwhile, Foster Gardiner, Harry Miller, Liam Kershaw, Anthony Depasquale and Harry Maguire have all re-signed with the Tigers.
The 2025 campaign marked Gardiner’s first season in the black and gold, with the now 21-year-old earning his VFL debut midway through the year.
“I loved my first year at the club and can’t wait to see what 2026 has in store for us as a group,” Gardiner said.
“Everyone has come back driven and determined to better where we were last year, which is exciting to be a part of.”
Last year was a rewarding season for Miller, who emerged as a key part of Werribee’s forward mix.
The recently turned 21-year-old earned his VFL debut against Sandringham in round eight and did not miss a game from that point onwards,
Miller said it was a no-brainer to re-sign at Werribee.
Recently turning 20, Kershaw was the 28th player to commit to Werribee for this season.
Kershaw’s 2025 season began with continued strong form at local level, before earning his Werribee debut midway through the season.
Depasquale said he is excited to go again at Werribee.
“I love the club and what it stands for. The boys have come back hungry and driven for success, and there’s no reason we won’t be back at the top very soon,” he said.
The 2025 campaign marked Maguire’s fourth season at VFL level and his first in the black and gold.
“The club brings out the best in me on and off the field, and the culture here is a big reason why. I’m looking forward to what’s ahead.”
