There is light at the end of the tunnel for Werribee City in the NPL2 West Vic soccer.

The Bees finally broke through for their first win of the season on a lucky 13th occasion in a 3-0 pummelling of Bendigo City at Epsom Huntly Recreation Reserve on Saturday evening.

Bobby Vidanoski did the damage for the Bees with a double.

Vidanoski shocked the hosts with a goal just five minutes in and provided the side’s third in the 73rd minute.

In between, Domenico Marafioti also found the back of the net while Bendigo City was falling foul of the referee, going down to nine men with 20 minutes to go.

The Bees defended the lead they had and walked away with a maximum three points for the first time this season.

It was enough to see the Bees leapfrog Bendigo City on the ladder and up to eighth ahead of a trip to Whittlesea Ranges, who have been linked with a move for outgoing Melbourne Victory star Archie Thompson.

Elsewhere, Hoppers Crossing’s state league 2 season has hit a snag with consecutive losses.

The Reds were beaten 1-0 at home by Geelong on Saturday, tumbling to fifth in the process.

In state league 4, Point Cook had a meritorious 2-1 win over title contenders Bell Park at Saltwater Reserve.

Harrison Reading scored both goals for the Jets.

Truganina Hornets moved out of the relegation zone with a 1-1 draw with second-placed Surf Coast at Arndell Park.

Musa Kamara scored the second half equaliser for the Hornets.
