Bees denied three straight at the death

Werribee City missed out on a third consecutive win by a matter of seconds in the NPL2 west at Galvin Park on Sunday.

The Bees were on the verge of collecting all three points until Brunswick City striker Adam Wright equalised deep into second half stoppage time to make it 2-2.

Wright was a thorn in the side of the Bees all day, finishing with a double.

In between, Damien Peters and Domenico Marafioti scored for the Bees, lifting hopes of another win for the bottom-three side, which is rejuvenated under new coach Sergio Sabbadini.

The Bees had to settle for a fourth game without defeat.

In state league 4, Point Cook was scintillating in an 8-0 thrashing of Balmoral at Saltwater Reserve.

Five different Jets got on the scoresheet, which included a hat-trick to Morgan Filer and a double for Zac Osborne.

Dale Howarth, Harrison Reading and Shaun Rodden also found the back of the net in the rout.

The Jets are up to fourth with a significant goal difference boost.

Truganina Hornets turned the corner with a strong performance on the road against Bell Park, but reaped only one point in a 1-1 draw.

Musa Kamara scored for the Hornets, who remain in the relegation zone.
