Werribee will continue to shuffle its line-up until it can unlock a winning formula in division 1 of Bowls Victoria.
The Bees have been a huge disappointment so far with just two wins from six matches to languish in seventh spot on the ladder.
Their miserable run of results continued on Saturday with a 13 (72) – 5 (67) loss to Melton at Chirnside Park.
“Very disappointed, unacceptable, all the old cliches,” Bees skip Snowy Barker told Star Weekly.
“We’re going to move the deck chairs a bit again this week, although this time we’re a victim of circumstances; I’m out next week and Brett Dodd is out for the next two weeks.”
But it wasn’t all gloom and doom for the Bees against Melton.
In fact, it was mostly positives, with the exception of one rink.
Rob Panton’s foursome went down by a whopping 24 shots to spoil the overall result.
“One rink went down heavily, but I don’t point the blame at just that rink,” Barker said.
“There are shots to be played everywhere over the course of the game.”
The Bees claimed two of the rinks, Barker and Dodd both finishing in front, while Mick O’Neil played out a thrilling tie.
The Bees gained five valuable points but it does not soften the blow of losing overall on home turf.
Despite the rough start to the season, Barker is adamant the Bees will bounce back before too long. “We haven’t thrown in the towel,” he said. “There’s a cluster of teams from fourth down to eighth and if we bounce back in the next couple of weeks with a couple of wins, then we’re back in the ball park.”
The undermanned Bees will travel to Moonee Valley for a mid-table stouch on Saturday.
In division 2, Hoppers failed to pick up a single point from its clash with Melton (2), going down 18 (97)-0 (70).
Hoppers have claimed just one win in six attempts and face a tough away battle with Flemington-Kensington on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Werribee is flying high in the mid-week premier division, sitting in second spot.
The Bees were set to do battle with Glenroy in a 1 v 2 blockbuster yesterday.
