A-League

It was a tough night for Western United down in Tasmania against the Wellington Phoenix on Saturday night in the A-League Men’s. The Phoenix opened the scoring in the first half and doubled the double early in the second half. A penalty would be the icing on the cake as the Phoenix won 3-0. The women’s team had the week off due to a national game window.

Australia Cup

Truganina Hornets are through to the next round of the Australia Cup after beating West Point on Friday night. The battle between the two local sides, it was the higher ranked Hornets, who scored two within two minutes just after half time, to take control of the match. The Hornets would win 2-0. Point Cook was knocked out 3-2 to Tatura.

Point Cook Centrals have announced a number of new signings as they make the jump to the Western Region Football League division 1. Ali Eqbal, Harry Cox and Jackson Beattie are all joining the club, the latter of the two making the move across from Tasmania. Centrals also announced women’s grand final best on ground, Mary Daw, and Leah Moss had signed on for the women’s team this year.
