Werribee returned to the winners list in the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association east-west. After two straight losses, the Tigers easily accounted for Yarraville. The Eagles were restricted to 151, with the Tigers finishing 2-153 in reply with Shaun Dean top scoring with 74 not out. Hoppers Crossing was also on the winners list, beating Noble Park. Noble Park made 153, with the Cats finishing 2-154 in reply.

Bowls

Werribee caused an upset win against Deer Park 2 in the Bowls Victoria weekend pennant division 2, section 1. Facing the leader ladders, the Bees won 86 (15)-83 (3) to continue their good run of form. Hoppers again just fell short, this time against Yarraville Footscray 3, 75 (16)-71 (2). Werribee remains in third spot but has closed the gap on Deer Park, while Hoppers is bottom without a win.

VTCA

Laverton was too good for the Werribee Centrals in Victorian Turf Cricket Association T20 competition on Thursday night. Centrals made 7-121 from their overs, before Laverton made 4-122 in reply. In the Ponsford pool group, Point Cook was way too strong for Wyndhamvale. Point Cook made 7-174 from its overs before restricting Wyndhamvale to 8-98. The win means Point Cook will finish on top of its group.

NAB League

Players from the Western Jets are among those who took part in a training camp in preparation for the 2023 AFL under-18 national championships. The camp, which was held at the Hangar in Tullamarine featured a host of talented 16 and 17-year-old boys and girls who feature as part of the Victoria Metro regions that compete in the NAB League. The girls squad participated in the training camp across Friday and Saturday, while a camp for the boys squad was run on Saturday and Sunday. Six players in the 2023 NAB AFLW Academy have been named in the girls’ squad, including the Jets’ duo Kristie-Lee Weston-Turner and Kiera Whiley. The Jets’ Logan Morris, who plays with Werribee Districts, and Tamara Henry, who is from Darley, also took part in the camps.
