Werribee City continued its good form with a 3-0 win against Brunswick City on Saturday afternoon in the National Premier League 2. The Bees opened the scoring just on half time through Marcus Petricca. Matthew Scott would score twice in the second half for the Bees to put the icing on the cake. The Bees are the only team to have won their three opening matches and sit atop the table.

West Point’s dream Australia Cup run ended against Whitehorse. Playing in the fourth round for the first time, West Point as on the back foot early with Whitehorse scoring two goals int the first half. They would then score another two early in the second half. West Point was able to get a consultation goal through Matthew Walker.

GDFNL

It was tough start to the season for Werribee Centrals in the Geelong and District Football League on Saturday. Facing Inverleigh, Centrals lost 16.18 (114)-2.8 (20). In the A-grade netball, Centrals easily overcame Inverleigh to secure a 52-23 win. Caitlin Hendrickson and Stephanie Kearney were the best in the win.

The City West Falcons bounced back in a big way in the Victorian Netball League championship division on Wednesday night. After a below par start to the season, the Falcons smashed Casey, 89-51. Falcons coach Marg Lind said she was thrilled how the side had been able to regroup. “It was a lot better,” she said. “The first quarter we scored nearly 30 goals. “We were able to address a few communication issues in the defensive end and it was a good result. “The girls were trying to score 90 goals, but just missed out. I’m pretty happy.”
