VAFA

The Victorian Amatuer Football Association season will kick off on April 15 next year. The VAFA released its calendar for next year, with all senior competitions set to kick off that weekend. The men’s premier competitions will no longer have two consecutive byes, with one of those byes to be held later in the season. The women’s premier competition will increase to 10 teams and they will play an 18 round season.

VFL

Noah Gribble, Matt Keast, Flynn Young and Gennaro Bove are the latest players to recommit to Werribee for next year’s Victorian Football League season. Gribble played 11 games this year, while Keast showed promise in nine matches and Young earned a final round debut against the Northern Bullants. Bove spent much of the year working his way back to full fitness following offseason shoulder surgery. Werribee football manager Mark Micallef said all showed a lot of promise in their first seasons at the club.

WRFL

The signings continue for Point Cook in the Western Region Football League division 1 off season. Simon Deery joins his former Gippsland Power teammate at the Bulldogs. Deery is an experienced player having played in the Victorian Football League for five seasons. Meanwhile, Jesse Beha returns to the sport after not playing since the pandemic. He most recently played with Black Rock.

Basketball

Former Wyndham junior Dejan Vasiljevic is part of the Australian Boomers side for the latest round of qualifiers for the World Cup. It’s a second straight call up for Vasiljevic, who was part of the last round of qualifiers. Vasiljevic is currently playing for the Sydney Kings in the National Basketball League season. He is averaging nearly 14 points a game for the top of the table Kings.
