A-League

A massive 12 months for Western United’s Rhys Bozinovski has continued after being named in the Young Socceroos squad. The 18-year-old was called up to the squad for the first time for a three-day camp in early August and has been rewarded with another selection, this time as part of the squad that will play in the Four Continents Tournament later this month. The squad will play matches against Morocco, Chile and England. Meanwhile on Saturday, Western United continued to warm up for the A-League season with a 3-2 win against Adelaide United.

WRFL

Wyndhamvale has announced it will go with co-coaches for next year’s Western Region Football League division 2 season. The club announced on Sunday night that Rob May and Jason Parker would coach the side next year. The duo replace Luke Wenlock who stood down at the end of the season. The Falcons finished fourth this year, knocked out in the first week of finals.

VSDCA

Werribee will start its championship defence against Spotswood in the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association east-west on October 1. Coming off successive championships, the Tigers will again be one of the teams to beat this season. The Tigers are on the road in round one, heading down to Spotswood, which finished its first Subbies campaign in seventh. The Tigers first home game isn’t until November 5.

VTCA

Werribee Centrals will start their Victorian Turf Cricket Association division 3 season at home. Centrals will play Williamstown Imperials in a one-day clash on October 1. This season there will be a return of two-day cricket across the VTCA. In other round one matches, Bellbridge will play Maribyrnong Park St Marys in division 4, while in division 5, Sanctuary Lakes will host Melton Centrals and Wyndhamvale will play Footscray Angliss.
