Big V

Wyndham stars are among those nominated for the Big V awards. Kavione Green, Maurice Green, Manel Ayol, Amanda Paschal and Dyani Ananiev have been nominated for the most valuable player and all-star five in their respective divisions. Ananiev and Abram Tong have been nominated for defensive player of the year and youth player of the year, while the two senior coaches Lucas Allen and Gerard Hillier have been nominated for coach of the year.

A-League

It’s double trouble for Western United with twins Adriana and Melissa Taranto joining the club’s first A-League Women’s side. The 23-year-olds, who play for Calder United in the National Premier League, are the first siblings to sign for Western United. It is a return to the top flight competition for the pair, who both debuted for Melbourne Victory in 2015 as 16-year-olds while also representing Australia at youth level.

NAB League

The Western Jets finished the regular season with a loss to the Northern Knights in the NAB League boys competition. The Jets started the better of the two sides, before the Knights hit the front before half time. The Knights kicked 10 goals to four after half time to seal an 18.5 (113)-10.12 (72). Harrison Miller, Logan Morris and Matthew Payne kicked two goals each. Miller was named the Jets best. The Jets finish the regular season in 10th.

WRFL

Werribee Districts will face Hoppers Crossing in an elimination final in the first week of Western Region Football League division 1 finals. The Tigers beat St Albans in the final round, 20.9 (129)-10.10 (70) to seal fourth spot. A final round 13.7 (85)-6.9 (45) loss for Hoppers Crossing to Caroline Springs meant the side slipped to fifth. Point Cook finished its season with a 19.15 (129)-12.12 (84).
