Wyndham’s hopes of a minor premiership in the Big V men’s state championship division were dinted on Saturday night. Wyndham faced the Sunbury Jets in a top of the table battle, it was an up and down match. Wyndham led by one point at the last break, but weren’t able to hold on as the Jets outscored Wyndham, 28-19 in the last quarter to win 96-88. The Jets sit 17-1, with Wyndham now sitting 13-4. Wyndham’s women’s side had a thriller in the state championship division, beating the McKinnon Cougars 68-64. Amanda Paschal top scored with 22 points. Wyndham sits top after 15 rounds.

NPL

Werribee City had a tough day against Pascoe Vale on Saturday in the National Premier League 2 competition. The Bees led 1-0 at half time after a goal to Marcus Petricca, before three goals including one in injury time, gave Pascoe Vale a 3-1 win. The Bees remain second bottom with just 15 points. They are on the road this weekend, travelling to Geelong to face North Geelong Warriors on Saturday afternoon.

Westbourne Grammarians were no match for Hawthorn in the Victorian Amateur Football Association division 3 on Saturday. The Hawks had it all their own way in the 31.22 (208_-7.8 (50) win. Ben Stoios was named the Grammarians best in the loss. The bottom placed Grammarians face Richmond Central this Saturday.

Werribee Centrals had their moments against East Geelong in the Geelong and District Football League on Saturday but it wasn’t enough for a win. East Geelong took control in the middle two quarters and were able to get out to match winning lead. While the Centrals won the last quarter, it wasn’t enough, with East Geelong winning 14.11 (95)-7.7 (49). Tyler Crennan was named the Centrals’ best.
