WRFL: Break over, bring on the blockbusters

The WRFL returns after the mid-season break and it will be a weekend of blockbusters in division 1.

The top four sides will lock horns with each other in eight-point games.

Here is what we can look forward to in the top flight on Saturday.

Division 1

Altona v Sunshine: A must-win game for two sides sitting outside the five. Neither would like to contemplate how far behind the finals contenders they would be if they do not salute in this important encounter at Grant Reserve.

Deer Park v Hoppers Crossing: First versus third. Deer Park are taking all before them again this season as they have a three-peat in their sights. Hoppers Crossing is an emerging side, but how far they have come might be known come 5pm on Saturday.

Port Melbourne Colts v St Albans: Port Colts are languishing in second-last position on the ladder and go in a underdogs against fifth-placed St Albans who have looked the part as a finals contender for most of the season.

Spotswood v Werribee Districts: Second versus fourth. What an encounter this one should be at McLean Reserve. If Spotswood can get the win, it will go a long way towards cementing a finals double chance. If Werribee Districts are victorious, it will ensure they maintain the pressure on the three sides above them on the ladder.

Division 2

Glenorden v North Footscray

West Footscray v Sunshine Heights

Wyndhamvale v Caroline Springs

Yarraville-Seddon v Manor Lakes

Division 3

Albanvale v North Sunshine

Braybrook v Wyndham Suns

Laverton Magpies v Parkside

Sanctuary Lakes v Tarneit
