Manor Lakes wins two premiership in second season

Manor Lakes is celebrating its first premierships as a club in only its second summer of cricket.

The future is bright for the Storm after the under-11As became the first side in the club’s history to take out a flag.

That winning feeling must have been infectious, as it was followed by a premiership in the under-15C south division.

Manor Lakes proved far too strong for Deer Park-Ardeer in the under-11 decider at Howqua Way Reserve.

The Storm posted 3-146 from 24 overs on the back of strong showings from Jacob Bowen (28), Jacob Knight (28) and Harish Suresh (26).

The team backed it up with the ball and in the field to restrict Deer Park-Ardeer to 6-77 for a comfortable victory.

Manor Lakes also brought home the spoils with a six-wicket win over Williamstown CYMs in the under-15 grand final at Haines Drive Reserve.

Set an imposing target of 183, the Storm chased it down with six wickets and five overs to spare, thanks to an unbroken 76-run stand between Mason Kinash (56 not out) and captain Harry Diacono (49 not out).

The highlight of the partnership was a 25-run 42nd over in which four boundaries were hit, including two sixes to Diacono and a four and a six to Kinash.

It came at a crucial juncture in the match, with the Storm requiring a touch under a run a ball with seven overs to go. Diacono and Kinash blew that equation to smithereens with their incredible power hitting.

The Storm never looked back from that point en route to the club’s second title in a week.
