Werribee came up just short of qualifying for the under-15 state softball championship grand final on Saturday.
The club made a hot start to the day, defeating Sunshine and Frankston in its first two matches to qualify for the division 1 finals.
But losses against Casey and Waverley halted progress. The final was eventually won by Albury Wodonga.
